Glass & glazing information
Understand
the glass make-up.
An introduction to toughened and laminated glass, and the questions to discuss when specifying your windows.

About safety glass
Toughened glass is heat treated to change its strength and breakage characteristics. Laminated glass combines sheets of glass with an interlayer; if it breaks, fragments can remain held to that interlayer.
These are different glass constructions, and the appropriate choice depends on the particular application. The location, dimensions and project specification need to be considered together.
Provide any glazing notes or requirements from your building plans. Our team will discuss the glass make-up in the context of the window system and confirm the agreed specification with your quote.
Details to consider
- Where the glazing is installed and how the space is used
- The glass notes on your plans or window schedule
- Pane dimensions and the proposed window configuration
- Any other required thermal, privacy or acoustic characteristics
Share your plans, photographs or approximate dimensions. We will review your project and contact you if we need any further information.
